There's something magical about discovering a hidden treasure on the beach. At VAEL Designs, we've captured that feeling in our Cape May Diamond pendant collection.
Cape May Diamonds are quartz crystals found on the shores of Cape May, New Jersey, where the Delaware River meets the Atlantic Ocean. They start their journey in the mountains of Pennsylvania and are carried and polished by the river over thousands of years before washing ashore at Cape May Point.
Our artist finds each stone by hand on the beach, then tumbles it for several weeks to bring out a smooth, glassy finish. After tumbling, each Cape May diamond is wire wrapped by hand in sterling silver, highlighting its natural contours and creating a secure, elegant setting.
The Cape May Diamond pendant measures 1.25 inches in length and 0.65 inches in width — an ideal statement piece without being overwhelming. Every pendant is one of a kind because every stone came from a different place on the beach on a different day.
