PRODUCT INFORMATION

Orthoceras fossil sphere measuring 2.5 inches in diameter from Madagascar. Orthoceras were ancient cephalopods, related to modern nautilus and squid, that lived during the Paleozoic Era over 400 million years ago. They had elongated, chambered shells that are easily recognizable in cross section by their characteristic internal chambers and siphuncle, the tube that ran through all the chambers. The polished sphere cross-sections multiple Orthoceras fossil specimens simultaneously, showing the elongated chambered shells in cross section across the surface of the sphere.

At 2.5 inches in diameter this is a display-grade fossil sphere that works on a desk or shelf. Comes with a plastic display stand. Fossils from Madagascar are well preserved and Madagascar is one of the primary sources for commercial Orthoceras specimens.

Genuine Orthoceras fossil sphere from Madagascar. Includes display stand.
