Dark, moody, and unmistakably emerald. This 2.50 carat natural emerald is emerald cut at 8.5x7mm with the kind of deep forest green that absorbs light rather than reflecting it. Under backlighting the interior opens up into a classic garden of inclusions — the fine needle-like fractures and growth patterns that have defined natural emerald since the stone was first cut centuries ago.
The inclusions are heavy and visible, which is why gemologists coined the term "jardin" for them in the first place — it is not a flaw unique to this stone, it is the nature of emerald. This one leans toward the dramatic end of the spectrum. It is settable and wearable, and in the right mounting the dark color and complex interior make for a striking, unconventional piece.
