A male figure in profile, carved in high relief into black onyx — face, hair, and draped garment all rendered with exceptional detail. The stone has beveled edges, a finishing touch that separates quality production pieces from standard supply stock. This is the kind of carving that comes out of Idar-Oberstein, the German hardstone carving capital that supplied the world's finest jewelers for over a century.
These stones came directly from a pack dated December 29, 1971. The pack itself is a piece of jewelry trade history. These stones sat untouched in a retired jeweler's collection from 1971 until now.
